27-06-2019 Initial Tests of the High Speed Signal Generator "SigeLC"

 

We obtained a rise time of 50ps at 600MHz generation frequency. Unfortunately, some problems are caused by the SMA socket - it does not give a proper termination (there are some reflections). In the next stage, we will look for a solution to this problem so that the signal has the correct shape.

We have started research on an infrasound microphone with an unusual design. If it works, the lower limit frequency will be ... zero (!)

30-03-2019 High Speed Signal Generator "sigeLC

 

We have developed an ultrafast signal generator "sigeLC" with the following parameters:
- rise / fall times around 50ps
- stable frequency due to the LC circuit (primary signal: sinusoidal)
- converting an internal sinusoidal signal into a square output wave
- assumed frequency range 20MHz .. 400MHz (determined by elements)
It's waiting for tests.

18-03-2019 Step-pulse generator "SRD-5"

 

We have developed a "SRD-5" - step-pulse generator. It will be applicable in TDR systems. Assumed rise time: approx. 100ps, amplitude regulation, low impulse distortion (important in TDR systems).
It's waiting for tests.

05-03-2019 nano-H,small inductances meter - start

 

On the basis of the developed LC-Low device, we have started work on a smaller version of the meter: nano-H.
Nano-H, like its "bigger brother", is designed to measure very small inductances (up to 0.2nH). It will serve those users who need to measure coils with very small inductances.

12-02-2019 Pulse Generator "Genim-MA"

 

We have developed one block of the Genim-MA generator: a highly stable signal source; range from 1kHz to 150MHz, 0.8V.
It works, but we want to create a new, revised version.

31-01-2019 Pulse Generator "Genim-MA"

 

We tested the output block of the "Genim-MA" pulse generator. We checked the range of amplitude regulation and pedestal regulation. For now, it has been tested up to 120MHz.
Waiting for the corrected version.

We have started research work on the innovative structure of an atypical LC filter. The first research indicates that it is possible ("contrary to theory") to obtain a high value of the LC filter quality factor on acoustic frequencies.

08-07-2019 Inductive Infrasound Microphone

 

We have the result of the first tests - the microphone works, its lower limit frequency is 0Hz really! 

It is probably the only such microphone all over the world!

The next step will be working on the sensitivity of the microphone.

04-05-2020 Capacitive Infrasound Microphone

 

We have established cooperation with the AstroCeNT: Particle Astrophysics Science and Technology Centre  - autonomous unit of the Astronomical Center Nicolaus Copernicus Polish Academy of Sciences. Our task is to develop electronic system for high sensitivity infrasound microphone. The lower frequency should not be worse than 1 Hz.

08-06-2020 Capacitive Infrasound Microphone

 

We have achieved it - the microphone works! We took measurements of the developed microphone prototype. The lower limit frequency is less than 0.3 Hz and sensitivity about 40mV / Pa. Such parameters have the best microphones in the world. The microphone even detects  changing of pressure caused by wind outside the window!

Electronics of the microphone prototype is ready. We enclosed it in a housing that allows to take all measurements and even use a microphone in target applications. The noise level measurement is still ahead of us, but the first tests look promising: our microphone shows no more noise than the infrasound reference microphone (type 47AC, manufacturer: Gras) used in the measurements. The innovative idea of FM modulation / demodulation turned out to be a good idea.

The photo shows both FM path modules: a modulator with a microphone (cylindrical housing) and a demodulator module.

Earlier works allowed to seal the microphone capsule from the front and to obtain a lower limit frequency of 0.3 Hz when stimulating the microphone in the measuring chamber from the front.

We are currently working on sealing the capsule from the back so that the microphone has full infrasound capability. It is quite a complex mechanics subject, but we are very close to the end of the work.

Technical parameters alone do not fully show the effectiveness of the microphone. But when you see a change in pressure on the oscilloscope caused by human breathing from a distance of 1 meter, it is really impressive!
